Any jazz jam sessions open to 15 yr old guitarists?
My son is in the jazz band and school and wants to
Play as much as he can. Any thoughts?

Great question! most of the jams listed at https://baltimorejazz.com/jazz-jams/ are open to all ages (with a couple of possible exceptions, so best to call the venue). That said, they tend to vary a little in terms of expectations. I’d recommend he visit a few – with or without guitar in hand – and maybe get a feel for what the different ones are like. Everyone should be encouraged to take chances, but also he should make sure he feels comfortable, and either come with a song or two in mind that he can request and feel confident playing, or be good at playing unfamiliar charts by ear or by lead sheet.
